Game of Thrones fans waited almost two years for the final season of the popular HBO series to air and now they are turning to CBD to get through weekly withdrawals. According to the Huffington Post, die hard Game of Thrones fans have become so emotionally invested in the fates of their favorite Game of Thrones characters that they have looked to CBD as a way to quell their stress.
In particular, the popular CBD brand Lord Jones, a company whose products are lauded amongst the Hollywood elite, have noticed a sizable spike in their mentions on social media, particularly, an increase in Instagram tags for their brand and particularly on Sunday nights during the time frame in which Game of Thrones airs.
“We are all huge GoT fans and were delighted when we saw a bumper crop of social media posts from our fans last Sunday showcasing their favorite Lord Jones products they used to get through the epic Battle for Winterfell,” said Lord Jones founder Robert Rosenheck.
CBD, short for Cannabidiol, is the non-psychoactive ingredient in the marijuana plant, as opposed to its sister cannabinoid THC, the substance in cannabis that gets you high. The CBD market continues to explode with millions turning to CBD-infused lotions, oils, gummies, pills and other products to help with their stress and anxiety. Research also suggests CBD has pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory benefits, and is a popular relief substance for those experiencing chronic pain, arthritis, sore muscles, period cramps and other common physical discomforts.
Though is doesn’t get you high, CBD has been noted to have a beneficial mental and emotional effect as well. With each episode of this shortened final season taking Game of Thrones fans on a wild emotional ride as the series builds to its climactic conclusion, fans of the show, some invested for the better part of a decade, feel the tense build of finality approaching. CBD has been known to relieve anxiety and can stabilize your mood delivering a calm sense of well-being.
Winter may have come, and the end may be near, but the impact and popularity of CBD continues to grow as CBD takes its place on the wellness throne.
